Relay trail run
This Saturday, I participated with some friends in a 50 mile relay trail run. It was divided up so that everyone ended up running 3 times, for a total of about 13 miles apiece. It was really fun, but I was so not prepared for the trail that almost 7 of my miles were on. Basically it was ankle deep mud, with rocks, frequent knee deep puddles, logs across streams, and other streams with no logs but with rocks to jump across. Oh and did I say there was mud? It was lucky that I had brought a change of clothes and shoes because I may as well have taken a mud bath in the ones I had worn for that stretch of trail. It was probably the most difficult 7 miles I've ever ran, including the last 7 miles of my marathon.
It was really fun. At least a lot of it was really fun, and the mud puddle running parts that were slightly less fun at the time seem really fun in retrospect. It was a great experience and fun to run with a lot of other people. I hope to do it again next year.
This is my running partner and I finishing our last run (this section was 3 miles). Our team was divided into four groups of two people each. Running with someone else makes it go a lot faster.
